Surf Fest to Return to Newport for the Fifth Straight Year
Last year’s festival which took place at Fort Adams drew record crowds. It also started gaining worldwide recognition as the festival to attend or exhibit in if you love the historical side of our sport. This year more than 800 vintage surfboards are expected to be on display at the historic Fort Adams! Authorities in vintage surfboards namely Steve Morrissey, Keith Kyle and the popular “Longboard Brothers” out of Matunuck will loan more than 300 of these vintage boards for the event.
This year’s festival, with its promise to be the biggest Surf Fest yet, is set to deliver on that promise by expanding the festivities. In addition to the vintage surfboards on display, there will also be a Skateboard and Memorabilia Exhibit that will feature more than 500 items. Speaking of skateboards, the event will have our skate crew covered with a 30 foot skateboard mini and a 13 foot vert ramp set to be assembled for skateboarding demos from skate pros.
Speaking of pros, skate and surf pros are expected to grace the event. Be ready to exchange high fives with Ratboy Collins, Kalani Robb, Jason Jesse, Christian Fletcher and more! Local surf and skate vendors along with food vendors are expected to make sure that guests will have their fill of goodies! After all, all that high fiving can make one very hungry for surf and skate gear and food!
The organizers are also expected to honor the memory of the late great Joe McGovern (we miss you, Joe!) and Mike Tabeling.
